Q: How old does my daughter/son need to be to participate?
A: Cheerleaders entering grades K-9 are welcome to participate. Your cheerleader’s age will determine team placement along with availability of coaches and cheerleader sign-up.
Q: How long is the season?
A: The season runs from August through late October/ early November. Practice begins August 13th. Cheering for games ends when football games are over, typically the end of October.
Q: How often are practices and where are they held?
A: Practices are held at Delaware Valley Regional high school inside the Gold Gym or if weather permits outside on the football practice fields. Practices will occur three times a week in August (Tues-Thurs) and twice a week in September and October (Wed & Thurs).
Q: How much is the uniform and how do I purchase?
A: Cheer uniforms are purchased through Champion at the cost of $150. Parents will receive a link and/or QR code to pay for uniforms and provide sizes. Unforms will be bulk sent to coaches for distribution.
Q: What does my cheerleader wear to practice?

Q: How often will we have to travel for games?
A: Travel will be minimum and decided once the league schedule is published. Shortest distance travel games will be prioritized and communicated by coaches once available. Cheerleaders should expect to travel to 2-3 away games throughout the season.
Q: Will my cheerleader cheer for my football player?
A: It is not guaranteed as cheer teams are formed by age and cheer for football teams of the like age group. Football typically has 4 teams where cheer has 2 teams. In order to support all teams, cheer will alternate footballs teams with the younger girls focusing on Flag and the 3/4 team and the older girls cheering for 5/6 and 7/8 teams.
Q: What will my cheerleader learn?
A: Cheerleaders will learn game day cheers and a competition equivalent routine including all of the fundamentals of cheer; stunting, tumbling, dance, and jumps. This is a great opportunity to learn basic cheerleading skills while being part of a team and gaining confidence.
Q: How is information about games and/or practices communicated to parents?
A: Following the formation of the teams, parents will receive an invitation to join the BAND app. All important updates, changes or cancellations will be sent through the app. This is also the best way to confirm availability for practices and games!
Q: How can I get involved?
A: We are always looking for help! Parents will be asked to submit a work bond to ensure that volunteer hours are met throughout the season. To inquire about coaching opportunities please reach out to delvalunitedfootball@gmail.com.
